I'm in England several times a month and so I watch BBC and many of the other local news programs. I see that the news on both sides of the Atlantic is very similar, and both quite comical. BBC a touch of class. I think not.

Nobody Forces you to watch TV over here. I lived in Europe for 20 Years. Your T.v Is not much Better. Naked People around PrimeTime. Gays in every Second Tv show and in Public Office.
And If I want the Real Deal about whats Going on in the World. I will Check the News Agencys on the Internet. Not Every American is Ignorant. But You are also asking some very Ignorant Questions.

Its all about greed, the best "story" gets the ratings and more ratings means more money. I hate the media here, they only report what they think you should hear and some news agencies are strangled by the government (probably paid off). I am all for showing pictures of the ravages of war, torn bodies and blood, on the evening news. It would be nice, for a change to have a news agency that is not in the governments pocket that would actually report the real news.

Yeah for sure! They can make a feature news story out of a chicken crossing the road. It's unbelievably OTT and just plain cheesy at times. There's a lot of spam tv in the States, but they have brought a lot of good entertainment into the world through TV e.g (Friends, Lost, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Smallville and so much more)
I love the Yanks but I gotta agree with you on this one! LOL
Yeah TV licence sucks! (It'll be scraped in a few years, then we'll be truly like the Americans, mass advertising is already attacking our TV programmes, not yet as intense the US though).
Wow, some people are really offended by this question..?

BBS is not clasy. They report everything just as one sided as we do.
Also, we have BBC and the UK has plenty of News agencieswho have made the news a bit ore interesting. BBC broadcasters sound like american sportscasters at a socer game.

when i went over there i watched programs about god, dumb news shows, programs about god, dumb soap operas, programs about god, dumb talk shows, programs about god..
it's so dumbed-down, like it's made for kids. like 'here are the bad guys but the good guys will win!' to be fair, compared with europe it's at best laughable. but really, it's an insult to human intelligence and rupert murdoch must DIE!
at least here you have neutral reporting- not pro-anything in particular. the bbc has worked so hard to not be biased, over the years a particular commision (don't ask me which one) has successfully defended the bbc from government take-over. we've actually stuck to the ground rules - fair and balanced reporting. But then you have news like Fox News, total government drivel, 'gotcha' politics, what news program has to call themselves 'fair and balanced' if they really were?!
course the americans are going to look down on european media because they've been programmed to think like that. say 'liberal' - to me it means nothing much, to them all sorts of news one-liners come up - its like mass hypnotism. it's kind of scary. remember how hitler came to power?.. through the TV!
'bad news' comes up all the time in any culture, so i'm not saying that the american media is pure evil, some of it is quite funny and interesting. But when it comes down to it, our media is free. theirs comes with a price (programs about god, programs about god) - your brain!

Suck My Nutz
We like our TV to be flashy and attractive.
We have 1000 channels to choose from, and something has to grab the attention.
You think you're classier than thou.
I think you're stupid for paying a TV tax.
