I just had my first baby and i have a few question i need help with.

1. How do you know the temprature in the room is good for the baby? How can i tell if the baby is too cold or too warm or just good? What is a good temprature to keep the room at?

2. Are there any foods that encourage my body to produce milk?

I guess that is if for now.

Usually after a baby is a week or so old, it will be comfortable if you are comfortable. It is also better for a room to be too cool than too warm since hotter rooms are a risk factor for SIDS. Keep the room around 70 or so, and you should be fine. If you think the baby is too cold or hot, feel his or her hands and feet, keeping in mind that babies often feel a little hotter than adults.
As fars as producing milk, as long as you are eating a healthy diet, you should be fine. Just keep feeding her every couple of hours and that will do wonders for your milk production.

As a general rule, babies need one more layer than you do, so just use common sense about the temp. Check the back of the neck to see if baby is too warm and remove a layer if she is sweating. As for the second part, I don't know about foods. Just keep nursing, frequently, and your body will produce what the baby needs.

1. Room temp is good for a baby with a light amount of clothing on. Go by your instincts and touch the baby's skin to see it if is hot or cold. Newborns should be in full contact with someone most of the day anyway for warmth and connection.

2. Yes, go to http://www.kellymom.com/ to find excellent breast feeding resources. We got Nursing Mom's tea from the grocery store as well. I've heard oatmeal is good too.

Congrats on your new baby!

Whatever temprature is comfortable for you is fine for the baby. Babies need one more layer than adults, but don't overdress or they can become overheated easily. As far as breastmilk, just eat healthy...plenty of fruits and veggies and LOTS of water. Keep taking your prenatal vitamins. If you have a problem with producing breastmilk there are natural herbs that are safe to take.

1. What our doc always told me is if we are comfortable then so is the baby. Just make sure socks stay on for the first few months to help regulate body temp.
2. Drinking tons of water and nursing a lot are the best ways to increase your supply. If you feel it is low you can try pumping and freezing to keep your supply up and ready on demand.
Congratz on the new baby!! They are so much fun!!

Keep the room warm, but have ventilation on it (with your baby in other room unwindy) once a day, so the baby can breathe fresh warm air all the time.

And for you... it is only stimulation... the more milk you give to your baby, the more milk you get in you.

Congratulations for your child!

Breastfeeding is about supply and demand. Follow your baby's lead and nurse whenever he wants to . About every hours around the clock is normal for a newborn. BUT watch the baby and not the clock!

Some moms feel that eating oatmeal helps them to boost their supply. BUT....breastfeeding is about supply and demand...that is the number one way to establish supply....nursing and/or pumping!
