I went in for my ultrasound a couple of weeks ago and when the doctor went to see the sex the babys legs were crossed underneith it. He said he really couldnt tell but he said 70% that its a girl. Then the baby uncrossed its legs and the doctor said he could not see anything in between. I really want a girl and i am so afraid that its wrong. What are the odds that the doctor could be wrong?

I was the same way! I could have swore up and down that the baby was going to be a boy until the ultrasound and the tech said he was 90% sure that it was a girl because there was nothing in between her legs. I was so scared that the tech was wrong that I second guessed every "girlie" thing I bought for her. I even bought neutral bedding and a few boy things just in case. You are having a girl if the tech said that there is nothing in between and he got a good shot then it is a girl!! Congrats!

Well I guess your odds are 50/50 that they are wrong. When I went in for an ultrasound with my second child the cord was bewteen the legs and they could not tell, but the person doing the test kept looking and said she felt it was a girl. I am nearly 35 and had an amnio done and the test said that the baby was a boy. So an ultrasound is no sure thing.

the exact same thing happened to me it took me 4 ultra sounds to find out if i was having a girl or a boy. there are the small chances that the doc is wrong. but if he thinks it is 70% and the baby did uncross her legs at the end and he still didnt see anything.... start buying pink

The doctor could be wrong but its probably a girl. Hey...70% is more than 50% or so. My doc said 90% they say % because the testicles could fall at any time really so they just don't know for sure. Only GOD does!! Good luck with the baby!!

he is more likely to be wrong about it being a girl than a boy. With a boy ...they see the "male parts' and that is pretty much fool proof... with a girl it's a 50/50 chance. Some boy are better at hiding than others..... You will probably have another ultrasound before the baby is born and they might be able to tell better then........sorry to say you may just have to wait!

Well, nobody is perfect, but my Ultrasound tech told me that she has a 99% rate at making the boy/girl call. These people do this for a living, and know what they are looking at and for - and trust me... they actually see "girl parts" - it is not just "lack of boy parts" that makes them say it's a girl.

Once she pointed it out to us, we could clearly see a line where the "girl parts" were on both of our girls.
I *still* didn't run out and buy pink - I think it's in our nature to not believe it until we see it. :)

I'd say the odds are 70-30, just as the doc said.

Best of Luck!

I dont know if you can see on the picture or not but usually with a girl there are three white lines where the genitalia are. It's probably hard to see that since the legs were crossed but try and see if you see any white lines, that's usually indicative of a girl.

I am almost done with my third pregnancy and I will never ever find out. First reason- it doesn't matter in my opinon. You can't do anything to change it. I was worried about having girls and I have 2 so far. I love them so much- it doesn't matter. Second reason- I have heard of so many people who were mistold by there doctor. They were stuck with a pink room and pink dresses and a little boy popping out. You will love your baby as your little baby- not a boy a girl.

They can be wrong. Maybe you can get another ultrasound down the road to confirm it. But if the baby opened the legs that is pretty good sign. congratulations

I have a girl. The techs said the same thing to me. When it's hard to tell, it's usually a girl. With this baby, they were able to tell right away that it was a boy.
