Valeri Polyakov has the record for the longest stay in space. The Russian cosmonaut lived about the space station Mir... while he was there, it made about 7075 orbits, covering a distance of 300,765,000 km (about 186,887,000 miles).

He was up there from January 8, 1994 to March 22, 1995... that's 437 days, 17 hours, and 58 minutes to be exact. More than 14 months! He said it took him about six months to recover from being in space for so long, though he felt a lot better after a vodka and a sauna. ( :

Not sure what you mean. The space shuttle doesn't travel in space that long. The International Space Station (ISS) has been traveling in space for years (orbiting the Earth). We have sent probes beyond our solar system and they are traveling still. The most amazing accomplishment in my opinion is that just last year we landed a probe (unmanned spaceship) on one of Saturn's moons, Titan, over a billion miles away. That would be the longest travel for something that actually landed somewhere. The Cassini-Huygens probe sent back pictures before it froze in the the -270 degree surface temperature. The link below will give you some information.
