Maybe you should actually read the book? :) Its an extremely beautiful book that effects you greatly when you read it, it is not going to be boring or annoying so give it a go.

There are many important events in the story, when she is first sold as a geisha and her sister as a prostitute, when she decides she wants to become a geisha to be able to be close to the man she loves, when she sees hatsumoto with her lover at night, when she loses her virginity to the doctor, when she meets the man she falls in love with as a child, and many more....try to form your own opinions as well

There are many events that affective her life. I would say that her parents selling her would be the most important. That is what lead her to the life she lived. It is a beautiful book. I hope you enjoy it.
