The pill is 97%-98% effective when taken properly. You will know if you are pregnant the same way you would if you were not on the pill. If you don't get your period after a few days into the placebo pills, then go buy a home pregnancy test. The test will still be accurate even if you are on the pill. You can also go to Planned Parenthood to have a free pregnancy test if you are low-income and do not have health insurance.

The pill is 99% effective if you're using it correctly.. You will know if you are pregnant if you don't get your usual menstruation at the expected date. Usually when you're on the pill, you take one pill for 21 days straight. Other brands may provide 28 pills but only the first 21 pills have active ingredients and the last 7 pills are sugar pill (placebo) just so you don't forget to take the medications regularly and you'll know when to start the next pack. When you're on the pill, it is usual to get withdrawal bleeding 3-5 days after the last active peel (21st pill) It's just like your regular period, last for 2-5 days. If you don't get this period then you might be in trouble. Also, becoming pregnant while on the pill still feels like being pregnant ordinarily. Watch out for the usual symptoms: missed periods, etc.

If you take your pill everyday as directed and don't take antibiotics it is unlikely you will get pregnant.

If you don't get your period then take a test.
