Among the other 21 nominees there are the Great Wall of China, Stonehenge of the Great Britain, the town Petra of Jordan, the Eiffel Tower in Paris, Sydney Opera House, the Colosseum in Rome, Taj Mahal of India, the Acropolis in Athens, the temple of Angkor Wat of Cambodia and the Statue of Liberty in New York.

The officials stated that, the objective of “The New Seven Wonders Foundation” is to develop a global sensibility, in order to protect the world's cultural heritage.

The voting for the New Seven Wonders of the World started on January 1, 2006 via the “www.new7wonder.com” internet address. The voting will end on January 1, 2007.
