I've asked a few gay people about this and they told me that they knew they were gay from like 5, 6, 7 years old. That's mind boggling to me. When I was 6, I wasn't even thinking about that type of stuff. They told me that they didn't really make a decision to be gay, but instead they just felt that they were. As a straight man, I couldn't relate, but it enlightened me. I also heard that there is a thing called the Older Brother Effect. Psychologist who study birth order say that the more older brothers a boy has the more likely he is to be gay. They didn't really know why, but the numbers don't lie.

Sometimes you can, but its usually not obvious. On the other hand, people sometimes make an assumption that is completely wrong. I was a total tomboy as a kid, and found out later some members of my family were convinced I would grow up to be a lesbian. LOL, been married to a great guy for over 17 years now.

Nah. Not at five I don't think. Although I believe that you start knowing you are different at that point, I don't think homosexuality can be "noticed" at that age.
Lots of little boys have feminine characteristics at a young age. Look at how many sisters have dressed their brothers up in makeup and heels, and how many boys have played with barbies until they were not allowed to anymore!

Homosexuals are born that way, but I guess it depends on what you mean by came across as feminine! I have a friend that If I did not know him I would have swore he was gay, but he is married, has children and grandchildren and not a gay bone in his body.
I don't think there is a way of telling by the way a person acts,

Maybe, but lots of kids act different for a lot of different reasons...to get his way, to get attention, to get his parents to laugh, or to make them mad. But, you never really know. My son was born with a heart defect and he's really sensitive. But he's only 2. So he acts like a boy (not girlie), except if he's sick or if he hurt himself, or different reasons. I guess it's how the parents treat them when they act this way. For instance, I don't pick him up right away, I give him a hug, then throw him on the sofa and let him throw pillows at me. But some moms might give a whole lot of kisses and baby them:) Good question?

no i don't think he will be cause in our family, my young cousin was raised by his other grandma and she told him it was alright to play dress up and wear her old dresses and high heels. She also let him play with dolls and taught him to play the piano. That young boy was also very femine and he is now 14 yrs old and now lives with his mother, no he is not gay. I think it is when the children hit their teens and start getting their first hormones when they realize if they are gay or not, I also do not believe it is there fault if they realize they like the opposite sex, it all matters on the amount of hormones their bodies produce...

The kid's mother may have been a single parent. I think this condition may cause a kid to lean in the wrong direction, but it's curable at that age.

No you can not tell if a 5 year old is homosexual. But you can tell when someone is mentally deranged, and that's when they look at 5 year old in some kind of sexual manner.
