I'm 23, I don't prefer either, tampons are bad for vaginal health and pads are not enough to deal with my menstrual flow, so I use a menstrual cup and have done for three and a half years now.
If I HAD to use pads, then I would defiantly choose Lunapads because they are cloth pads meaning that they are safer than commercial pads as they allow for aeration and don't contain harmful chemicals, it also means they are cheaper, environmentally friendly and I am telling you now, I tried them last year and they are the softest thing you'll ever have on your cootchie!
I would NEVER use tampons as not only do I remember what they were like when I thought I had no other choice than to use them, I know too much about their history, politics and health problems involved when it comes to tampons. They'd have to rape me with the things to get them into my body again.
Do you realise that there are more options than just tampons or pads?
There are in fact over twenty different menstrual options, if you want to use an internal option have you ever thought about using menstrual cups?
Menstrual cups are cups made from either medical grade silicone, natural gum rubber or soft plastics, they go into your vagina where they collect blood and then they are removed and either emptied and reinserted or emptied and thrown away, depending on what type of menstrual cup you go for. Bell-shaped menstrual cups sit roughly where a tampon would sit in the vagina and are around the same size as a tampon; where as diaphragm-shaped cups sit where a diaphragm would in the vagina, next to the cervix.

Menstrual cups can be worn safely for up to 12 hours, worn before your period is due, worn overnight, worn when playing sports or swimming, nothing showing on the outside not even a string, they are far safer than tampons, environmentally friendly, body-positive, bell-shaped cups are very cost-effective, softcups can be worn during penis to vagina penetrative sex, silicone cups can be fully sterilised.
Tampons contribute to cramps because firstly they expand either widthways, adding to bloating, or lengthways as well as widthways meaning that they can expand into the cervix, tampons are also bad for vaginal health and so bad vaginal health equates to difficult menstruation. Menstrual cups don't cause cramps the way tampons do so they may be a worth-while option for you.
Menstrual cups have money-back guarantees, Divacup offer a years money back guarantee, Keeper and Mooncup offer a three month money back guarantee, not sure about Lunettes policy, but essentially with menstrual cups you can try them for a while and if you don't like them you can send them back to get your money refunded to you. Softcups also offer free samples on their web site, all you have to do is pay for the postage and packing to get them to you – note softcups are far different from bell-shaped cups, one may work for you where as the other may not.

22, i prefer tampons. I only wear Tampax. With tampons, i feel clean. I mean granted sometimes they are annoying and I cant' wait to get home and put big pants on and a pad, but throughout the day i feel more comfortable with a tampon.

im 21, and I don't think u get cramps from wearing tampons, u'd probably get cramps no matter what, and between the 2 i would prefer tampons just because of the protection, but they're really bad for you, I use neither, google the diva cup, it's the best decision I could've made regarding my period

31 -- Pads. To me, tampons just aren't natural. The blood should flow away and out of your body, not get absorbed by a plug in your vagina. I prefer Always ultra thin pads. They aren't bulky like a diaper and hold quite a bit!

23. tampons!! i never wear pads anymore, unless they are the thin panty liner pads for the end when it's too dry for a tampon. pads to me feel bulky and almost like a diaper and too messy. i haven't worn them since i was 16 or 17.
i love tampax compacts. they are small and fit into your purse and they work great. it's like you dont even have your period, excetpt for the crams and bloating and stuff, but you dont have to worry about a leaky pad, as long as you are chnaging your tampon when you are supposed to its much more comfortable.
maybe you are wearing tampons that are too big? try regular or even thins.

I'm 28 and I prefer pads. Tampons are so bad for you. There is little peices and shards of fiberglass in tampons that make you keep bleeding so you'll keep buying more.
I used to use tampons before I had kids. After I had my kids tampons would never stay inside me. They literally fall out. Why? I should ask this question.

corks or diapers?...
I like corks. To me, with a diaper, its disgusting to know that I am sitting in that filth until I change it, besides the fact that you have to change your wardrobe for about a week or so. On a budget, it's not that good to change your stuff 50 times a day.
I am 26 years old and have tried everything, (just about). I use Kotex, (it's the cheapest name brand and it's great quality). They use plastic applicators, but, in my opinion, you shouldn't feel the need to flush extra stuff down your toilet anyway. It causes problems with the pipes later on. And don't think I know that some brands are designed to disintegrate. It's a matter of how long it takes as to whether or not it will clog your pipes. Anyway, it costs me $2.75 for a box of 18 or right at $5 for a double box.

Unless I am going to the gym or wearing very tights pants or shorts, I try to wear pads. I think they are more healthy for you. Also, I have worn both at the same time when my period is real heavy.
