My computer. No..seriously. I've stored everything in my computer. I have all my important documents scanned and saved in my computer. I have all of my family photos and even some of my kids artwork in there, the poetry that I write, the poetry my son writes, everything. So if my house burned down but I saved my computer, I'd still have all those documents and memories. Pictures can be copied and printed even if you don't have the originals, it's better than flat out losing everything. A few years ago I lost everything I owned. And I miss the photos and the letters and cards more than anything else. My boys baby books with their first tooth, their first locks of hair, the first Mother's Day cards they made for me, that stuff meant more to me than the furniture and the clothes and the jewelry. I'll never get that stuff back and to this day it still breaks my heart that I lost them.

I did loose my house and everything that was in it. If I had been home when it burned, I would have grabbed my picture album. After loosing all my photos and trying to find duplicates from family, I learned to share photos much better. Clothing, "things" and household stuff can be bought again. Pictures can not. Pictures help reinforce memories. MOST IMPORTANT

I'd grab my computer. Shallow? Sure, but it's my best way of keeping in touch with a lot of my friends, it's got all of my music, my pictures, and with my wireless connection, I could log onto Yahoo Answers and say "my house is burning. Was it a bad idea to just grab my computer and run?"

I agree with JaM - I would grab all my pictures, these include my son's baby pictures. Precious memories that can't be replaced.
