maybe. Can't tell. *DOES* is the correct word, by the way.

The following are some ways you can tell you may have a virus.
-Your Anti-virus software won't come up when you try to start it.
-You get a lot of returned e-mails that you did not send. NOTE: this might also be spoofing, meaning someone else is infected and is giving out your address.
-You get e-mails back letting you know you have a virus. This could also be spoofing. If there are attachments, do not click on them or open them. Delete the messages immediately.
-Your computer is unusually slow, or exhibiting strange behavior. Spyware will also commonly cause these symtoms. For more info on spyware click here.http://home.vcn.com/knowledgebase/article.php?id=219
If your computer does have a virus, you should purchase anti-virus software and install it on your computer if you do not have any. You can find it at places like Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Hastings, and many computer stores. In the meantime, you can immediately do a free virus scan at http://housecall.trendmicro.com or http://www.pcpitstop.com/freescan/default.asp .
If you have anti-virus software make sure, it is updated regularly. In fact, most programs have an option to perform automatic updates.
The best way to keep a virus from spreading through your computer and to remove it is to boot the computer into safe mode. To learn how to do so please click here.
If you cannot get it to remove a virus, send or take it in to a computer repair shop and have them clean it out.
If you aren't sure how to perform the steps above, take your computer into a shop and have it professionally cleaned.

Probably!
Browse through Yahoo Answers at any time of day or night and you'll see several recent questions similar to this one. Viruses are a very common problem with Windows PCs. So common that it should make you wonder why you keep your PC. Why don't you own a computer that doesn't have these problems? Don't be a masochist, switch!
http://www.apple.com/getamac
Switch now and in a month or two you'll be wondering why you didn't switch sooner. Everything is easier on a Mac, and there are NO viruses. That's right: ZERO. I can't remember the last time I scanned for one (AV scanners are available for the Mac, but they only look for PC viruses!) and my system is as good today as the day I bought it.

Do you have a security suite, if so run a spy scan and a virus scan to check! If you don't have a security suite go to download .com and install one, you can investigate here which ones are preferred by readers etc.; financial obligation if any and system requirements. Good Luck!

Maybe. Did you run a virus scan?
You DO have an antivirus installed, don't you?
There are a couple of FREE anti-virus programs, so there's no excuse not to have one installed.

Could be, but it also could be that you have spyware or need more RAM or hard drive space. Check out your RAM by going to the Performance tab of Task Manager and checking out your available physical memory. Also, use the following programs to check for and remove spyware and also clean up your computer:
Spyware Tools:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsdefender

Poissibly or more likely it has spyware infestation. Run some free downloads to find out!
Free Anti-Spyware Programs
There are quite a few free anti-spyware programs available! I suggest that users should use at least 3 different products to regularly scan their systems. Most of these products are free for non-commercial use versions that have disabled some features, usually the active resident protection.
Spybot Search and Destroy is an excellent program for scanning for and removing spyware. The resident modules can be a bit buggy, but the extra included tools such as startup manger are great! http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html
Adaware is another good scanner and removal tool but it has no resident abilities at all in the free version. http://free.lavasoft.com
Ewido is fairly new as a free spyware scanner, but it comes from the people who brought us AVG, so I expect good things: http://free.grisoft.com
Microsoft has their free scanner avalable for download although many advise that this tool is a bit permissive of questionable programs and add ons! Defender does offer a couple of options the others do not have such as scheduled scan and a resident process for active protection. http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx
A new player is on the scene with SUPERAntiSpware. I was fairly impressed with the deep scans performed by this product, and it found some inactive files with spyware embedded, that the others had missed. I will add this to the list of tools in the arsenal and see how it really performs on active spyware. If you want to try it you can download it here: http://www.superantispyware.com/download.html
Once you have your system cleaned up of all the spyware, then you should protect yourself against new infestations. Spyware Blaster does a very good job and does not use up any system resourses in doing so. Works with both IE and Firefox browsers: This Download can be found at http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
Another good way to avoid spyware is to use the Firefox browser. While not immune from spyware infestation, you will certainly not have as many problems as when you run I.E. Easy Download at http://www.mozilla.com
Free Anti-Virus Programs
AVG has a good personal use Anti-Virus product available at: http://free.grisoft.com
Avast Antivirus, also for non-commercial use is available at: http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html
Avira AntiVir Personal Edition is also available for download at http://www.free-av.com , I have not used this a lot and would welcome other comments on it.
The above products include active background scanning modules!
Bitdefender has an excellent scanner and removal tool but does not have any active background protection in the free version that is available at: http://www.bitdefender.com/site/Main/view/Download-Free

Maybe, or there might be too much clutter on your hard drive or there might be too much running on startup when windows begins to load. Try removing some of the programs you don't need and Defragging your hard drive to reorganize your hard drive.
