The body never develops an immunity to alcohol. The tolerance level goes up requiring more alcohol to achieve the desired effect and there is no escaping the hangover.

Its bad. It means your body has developed a resistance to the alcohol, which means to get the same "drunk" you had before is going to take more and more alcohol as your body continues to build resistance. If you are an alchoholic you should seek help immediately, the longer your body does this the harder it will be to quit because your body can and will become dependant on the alcohol. Do not quit cold turkey, depending on the degree of the alcoholism and your age the alcohol may have already become a drug that your body is addicted to and quitting cold turkey could cause shock, and other complications including heart failure.

I'm an alcoholic, been sober almost 5 years. I rarely if ever got a hangover. Then again, I also wasn't any every day drinker. Whether or not one gets hangovers varies individually. If you're saying you used to get hangovers regularly, and you don't anymore, and your drinking habits have not changed, then, yes, I would say you are building up a tolerance.

My question to you...if you know you're an alcoholic, why don't you get help? I didn't realize until I was sober how much my behavior when drunk and high affected my family and others around me. In the end, I commited myself to a mental hospital, had no friends left, was kicked out of where I live, and almost lost custody of my daughter.

Don't wait till it gets this bad or worse for you, get help now!

You never totally sober up so the hangover never happens.. It only happens when you stop drinking for a while

It means your body has stopped sending you that warning sign. The next thing it moves to is degenerating your liver. Alcoholics seemingly develop a "tolerance" to liquor, but its a very, VERY bad sign for your overall health. Get into a rehab program now.

That means you fried that part of your brain that use to register the hangover, next will be the part of your brain that tells your heart to keep beating.
