You can connect your cell phone to the computer. You will ned a phone cable for that that you could plug in to computer's USB. It isn't that expensive. Also, you can get a cable internet connection, which is cheaper and you won't have to pay for the phone connectivity. Also, you can get your computer connected to someone else's, your neighbor's I mean, through LAN. But you will need an external modem for that, which costs about 150 dollars.

Probably not without a traditional phone line, unless you enjoy burning more minutes than God. And you'd need a modem, *NOT* a cable modem, to connect via phone line. Then there is the saving grace, you'd pay $11.00 a month at *MOST* if you stay away from AOL, MSN and such. I have one account (as a backup) that is only $8.95 a month and delivers good service, though slow on graphics intensive pages. It is reliable, though and won't cost you all you have to keep.

Get a wireless adaptor for 20-30 bucks and borrow from the neighbors. Asuming neighbors live nearby. Never pay again.

Buy a wireless card and hope that you can piggyback off a neighbor's wireless network.
