If you mean higher in pitch, that is not necessarily so. I am a contralto and my voice automatically drops in pitch to harmonize with the sopranos etc.
If you mean volume, it's automatic as you force air through your lungs. But some people do sing under their breath, pianisssimo or pppp. Which can be irritating if they get hung up on the same song or phrase.

simply by fact for some human beings, their speaking voice is under their making a music voice - and in the event that they sing interior a similar tone as whilst they communicate, they won't be waiting to bypass very low. So then human beings sing in bigger voices to realize a sturdy selection.

I don't.

This being said, in the US, many males seem to force themselves to speak in the lowest possible voice, as if this conveyed more manhood I guess? (In meetings in the U.S., even I find myself lowering my voice, because people react better...)

If someone was speaking at his lowest possible voice, then whenever that person wanted to sing, to leave some room for low notes the person would have to start at a higher level than their normal speech level.

In most other countries, where most males don't feel obliged to use their lowest possible voice in speech, they're able to start singing starting off around the height where they normally speak.

hope this helps

It's so when you're in the pub and drunkenly launch into a rendition of Danny Boy, you don't make a complete a**e of yourself by going too low, too early only to find you can't make the bass bits of the mid section

When you start to sing you push more air past your vocal chords causing the pitch to rise.

Because when you sing it takes more air from your diaphram so it sounds higher.
