So we had no Government recourse for the taxation because we were not part of the government Hence We were taxed without representation. and the colonies did not take kindly to that.

I think it was because in the 18th cent we (English colonist) were not being represented in Parliament, the big wigs wanted to tax us on EVERYTHING that we had shipped over they wanted to tax everything from tea to household items. citizens felt that it was not fair that we were being taxed and had no say in the matter.
