If the obese and smokers are Americans, it is a burden I am willing to shoulder.

Good question and I'm not sure but with everything I've heard and read I'd say the obese, followed by illegal aliens and then smokers.

I think it is maybe the millions of lazy Americans who use state and federal funding to support their non-working lifestyle.
I have 26 year old clients in my office daily who have absolutely nothing wrong with them collecting their SSI already.
I see these same people in hospital ER's for a cold, sore ankle...just have nothing better to do I guess than to abuse the medical system.
But going with your 3 choices I would choose #2 the obese, when someone is actually obese the weight puts strain on their organs, heart, joints and also threatens their blood pressure, it messes with the digestive sytstem and leads to permanent problems with back problems and etc.

Without a doubt, I say illegal aliens. Think about it, almost 30 million illegals getting free healtcare. Now, go take a look at your last doctor bill - then do the math.

None, the majority of public funds spent in health care go to very old and intern who can't benefit from it anyway. 80% of health care funds are spent extending the last few months of life for a very small minority. If health care professionals would stop fighting the inevitablitly of death we would all be better off.

How about the government who doesn't give a damn and won't put any money into publicly funded health care. It's the government who helps out tobacco companies. It was the government who went into Mexico and raided their lands (read the Banana Republic history) making them bankrupt forcing them to sneak into our country. Yet, more money goes to CORPORATE WELFARE than to PUBLIC WELFARE. The government has responsibility as well, and they are the ones placing strain on health care for the sake of money.
