Popular brands of jeans once popular with consumers in the 1970s have re-emerged in new small chains of regional discount stores. Both the distribution and marketing strategy have changed for brands including Sergio Valente, Sasson, and Gitano. Seattle Pacific Industries owns the Sergio Valente label and has embarked on a new promotional campaign to rejuvenate the brand's name recognition. Seattle Pacific decided to adopt an umbrella marketing approach for Sergio Valente after surveys indicated the label still had brand awareness for consumers.
