when you die your body starts to decompose, starting with your appendix then spreading to the rest of your body. after a few hours you become really stiff, this is when rigamortous sets in. If you wish to be viewed by family/friends you will need to be embalmed, this process is when all your bodily liquids are removed from you and a fluid is used to fill your veins, this will halt decomposing for a while. You are then either cremated or buried. This however will not be the case if your death was sudden or suspicious as the procedure then would be to have an autopsy where a medical examiner will have to determine the cause of death. If your death was suspicious your body may be kept by the courts for however long it takes to gather any evidence for a criminal case.
This is what happens to your body, what happens to your soul nobody knows, people believe different things happen.

I dont believe the secular world actually knows or even thinks about it .Evolution only talks of survival(whatever that means); those who survive eventually die too.
Scientifically there has been no proof or understanding of the death process except the heart stops and will all die the same way.The brains no longer functions to maintain controll of The cellular life. The body gets recycled back to the ground into atoms ;and the following progeny only knows your name and memory.

if you die in hospital, a nice nurse will come along and wash you and put a white nightie on you and comb your hair. Then the porters come and get you and take you to the mortuary where its lovely and cool. you lie around there for a bit, then you get buried or cremated and all your family and friends have a big party.

You will never be able to ask questions at answers.Yahoo.Com!! Also Human bodies are made to decompose, but our spirit aren't. Death is an experience of asking ourself how much we contributed to the human civilization before saying goodbuy! After our death there will be peace for up, we will be just watching over the earth, from a distance!

there are many theories.... may not be without some substance...
if you are really keen, get hold of a copy of "the Tibetan Book of the Dead" and also "the Egyptian Book of the Dead" (available on the web easily) ....
body decomposes....if you believe in the soul, then it transmigrates, so they say.... there have been some evidences for this, though not very conclusive
many people who experienced "near death" have narrated their OBE (out of body experience)... almost all their stories are similar... so there must be some fact in that...
i remember a famous mystery writer (who?) who just before his last breath uttered "now comes the mystery!"...

First you will expell all body fluids. Some dude will get it, clean you up, suck your blood out and refill you with imbalming fluid. They're going to wrap you up in a body bag, put you in a box, bury you down about 6 feet deep. Then the bugs are going to crawl in and eat your rotting flesh. starting with your eyeballs. Rigomortis is going to set in, and you're going to stiffen up and there will be nothing left of you but bones. Then some developer of the future will dig you up, move your body, and build a mall over your old plot.

To give you a more serious answer...I have been clinically dead 3 times spaced quite far apart over my lifetime. Each time it started similarly, with a bright light. No, my angels have told me not to give you the answer, you could be suicidal and need assurance. I'm sorry, when it's your time, you will know. But there is nothing to be afraid of, unless maybe it's because you tried to take your own life. Be patient, when your NATURAL time comes, you'll be okay.
If you seriously want to go further into this, go to a community college night class on Death and Dying. I've spoken at them.

Your body systems stop working your heart stops and your pronounced dead, rigger sets in, and then your body starts decomposing it takes a few years and your body will turn to total bone as the flesh decomposes. Once the body turns to nothing but bone your body stays that way. As the years pass and bone is all that is left your DNA and cells start to decrease in number.

apart from what happens to your body nothing. you're dead. re-incarnation is just a nice way of saying your bodily particles will become part of the earth again...which is what we're all made of anyway...you eat vegetables don't you...or at least the meat you eat does! it takes a long time but it happens eventually

You get a visit from the coroner, then a lovely day out in a church and finally you're investigated by the inland revenue.
Unless you're Alan Bradley... bloody tram.
