difference between pedofiles and gays?

Ill risk sounding like a pedofile by asking this question. Im curious to know why homosexuality is supported while pedofiles are illegal, because the way I see it, a homosexual is just as bad as a pedofile.
why is there a difference between pedofiles and gays? why is it considered "ok" for a man to have a penis inserted into his anus, while according to law, a male who is 18.01 years old cannot have normal sex with a female who is 17.99 years old?
or why is it not ok for a 16 year old to have *normal* sex with a 19 year old? isnt there a state in the US where there is a law against straight sex with a minor but not gay sex with a minor?
if you assume that pedofile are "sick", then why arent gays sick? according to some studies, males who had abusive mothers or mothers who abused them were more likely to become homosexual. male pornstars generally become homosexual after having sex with an enormous amount of women. can this mean homosexuality can be a sickness as well?

I think this kind of question offends easily, though I am not one to get offended so I find it interesting. From what I understand, being homosexual merely states that you prefer members of the opposite sex, whether they are 8 or 80. A pedophile is defined as an adult who enjoys having sex with children (that is, under the age of 18). First things first. You have said that it is considered "OK" for a man to have a penis inserted into his anus. You must first realize that for many people in the United States (and in other countries as well) it is definitely not ok. Visit the Bible belt and you'll know what I mean. On the other hand, I would agree with you that there is a large amount of support for the gay movement and consequently they are given the freedom to "be who they want to be". Being a pedophile is a different issue. That addresses having sex with a person who is not of a fit age to be making the decision on their own. That is to say that if you have sex with an 8 year old, they may not know any better and you would be taking advantage of them. In your example, somebody who is 17 and their birthday is tomorrow cannot have sex with someone who's 18th birthday was yesterday. In this example you may be right and getting arrested for what would legally be referred to as statuatory rape would be somewhat analogous to having a cop pull you over for doing 55.5 in a 55. It just wouldn't happen. The reason they draw the line at 18 is because it has to be drawn somewhere. All around the U.S. right now there are likely to be thousands upon thousands of both children and adults under the age of 21 drinking. Why? It is commonly accepted. Similarly, there are probably a lot of 17 year olds having sex around the U.S. (maybe not right now) that nobody bothers to investigate. But when an 8 year old drinks or has sex, people start to pay attention.
I'm not sure about this last point, but I believe sodomy is still illegal in some states. So if you think about it this way, an 18 year old male having sex with a 17 year old male probably won't attract too much attention either, but an 18 year old and an 8 year old male will.
As far as the psychological aspects of this question go, nobody has yet identified whether there is a gay gene or environment that eventually brings about the feelings and emotions attached to the name. Pedophiles, on the other hand, are considered to have a disorder, which means that something is wrong with their brains and causes them to enjoy sex with children. You may have a point, but at the moment we don't know enough.
If you ask me, the limit for statuory rape is a little high, but the lower you bring the bar, the earlier kids begin having sex and it does set a standard that avoids that problem. I think society can figure out on its own when it really becomes a problem. Hope I've helped.

First of all, homosexuals are men (or women) who are of age who enjoy having sex with the same gender. Pedophiles are men (or women) who enjoy having sex with the sexually immature.

You need to realize that there is quite a difference between an 18 year old having sex with a 16 year old and a 30 year old having sex with a 12 year old. These laws are in place in order to help trauma to children who can't make correct decisions about their health and well being. Many choices we make as younger people even as teenagers may seem correct at the time, but they can cause great harm psychologically later on.

The reason in most places the "legal age" is 18, is because the cutoff point has to be somewhere. Some may believe that a sixteen year old has the cognizant capacity to decide their sexual partners for themself, and perhaps they do. In some states, 16 IS the legal age.

It all comes down to what you believe. If you believe that having anal between adults is just as bad as having sex with a helpless child, than I suppose there is little difference. But most of us recognize that a sex act between two adults is hardly the same as what is essentially rape between an adult and a child who does not truly know that their actions are traumatic.

A pederast is someone who has already abused sexually a child, or a minor, a pedophile is someone who has a sexual interest towards childs, or minors, and hasn't commited a sexual act with childs. No, nor pedophiles, nor pederasts are common, and it is something he should be ashamed of. Note that a pedophile/pederast have both sexual preferences for childs, not minors. You can be 21, and having sex with a 20 years old doesnt make you a pederast. having a sexual relation with a child, is what makes you a pederast. You should consider that most people dont know the difference between a pederast and a pedophile. Also, it was an invalid answer. You asked him if he was bi, gay or straight; likes men, both men and women, or just women. Pedophilia is a ramification of this 3 classifications. Having a relation with a young boy makes you gay-pedophile. You can be a pedophile that likes just women(straight pedophilia), just men(gay pedophilia) or both(bisexual pedophilia) Pedophilia and pederasty are both socially rejected, and it is not common, not sane.

there are no such studies. you have been misinformed. please find me the studies you describe...

we need to stop trying to legally define love as anything besides willing, consenting adults. the flaw is, that at some point you must legally define "adult". i can't agree to making it under 18, so now you have this issue of the law making romeo and juliet into felons. that is wrong. but i think you are taking it the wrong way saying that gays are sick. mostly, no one is sick if they're not hurting each other i'd say... so i can go along with "raping children is wrong", then i can also say "two consenting adults can do whatever they want to each other"... and that doesn't imply that gay people are pedophiles or even on the same continuum.

and there is no such thing as *normal* sex. just what you like and what you don't.

Sex is sex, no matter where it is. Gays and pedophiles are two completely different things. Gays are when one gender is attracted to the same gender and a pedophile is an older person that wants to have sex with someone much younger than them. gay people like personal relationships with the same sex.......not all people accept this fact...they need to educate themselves and learn that it is a way of life and choice. what goes on between consenting adults is normal, and does not hurt or harm anyone......
underage and overage people should not have relations until they are of age, consenting adults.............. straight or gay sex relations underage is wrong and immoral.

people who have sex with children are very sick and need to be in a insane hospital for their whole life and never be given the chance to harm children ever again...i pray that the law will change to make this happen.......

Pedophiles are having sex with children. Sex between two consenting adults, gay or not, is not illegal, nor should it be just because you are homophobic. I am heterosexual, but homosexuality does not bother me. I do not see it as a sickness.

you definitely need to do a bit more research. pedophiles are people who like children, whether its having sex with them (usually against their will) or looking at them "in that way". homosexuals are having sex with other homosexuals who have consented and willing. its not aainst their will. in other words...they WANT it. kids dont want it. hell most of them dont even know what "it" is. thats the difference.
