Just finished watching ENRON: The Smartest Guys in the Room and once again wtinessed how they wished California would break off from the U.S. and sink to the ocean. I happen to love California. One line from the documentary that was really awful was: "What is the difference between California and the Titanic?" The Titanic went down with electricity." Any thoughts?

I haven't seen the film you mention... but I am a California Native and have lived here for the last 42 yrs.

I recall several periods of time when there was discussion of the state breaking into two states... North & South based upon the water and irrigation issues.

I've heard of discussion of the state breaking into thirds... Southern California (again due to it's population and water consumption), The Bay Area (business and screaming liberals), and a state consisting of the Salinas, San Joaquin,Sacramento Valleys and the Mountain regions (aggriculture, industry, and Republicans)

MORE serious I suppose is the goal and intent of La Raza to re-absorb California into Mexico.

democrats would never let California become their own country. They would lose 55 EC votes. Without California they would have an even more difficult time winning the White House again and hell would probably freeze over before they took back either House of Congress.

I believe the question of dissolution of the union was settled with the end of hostilities in 1865. The United States engaged in a Civil War over the question of succession. It was determined that we shall stand together, as one nation, for better or worse. Most people in California have friends and family in other parts of the United States, and it is unlikely they would ever chose to sever the ties that bind their state to the rest of the country.

It would be nice if California sank into the ocean but probably not realistic in my life time.
California would never survive as an independent country because too many Cali. liberals throwing more money away than they take in. They would need to be subsidized by the rest of the country to keep afloat. (No pun inteneded)

When will FLORIDA become it's own country? LOL I am sure we won't live to see Cali break off on it's own. And, if it does, it will be just like Hawaii and still part of the US.
