Just wondering because I've seen a lot of questions pertaining to these recent reactions on the part of some extremists and the words are being used interchangeably.

"Extremist" is descriptive. As such, it can be applied to nearly anything. A person may be an extremist about lawn car or motor races.

There are only Muslims and non-Muslms. An extremist is only a Muslim that is visible. The ones who are invisible support the extremists.
