Wow This Is A GREAT Question!I Was Sitting Here Looking At The Fact,That I Had Just Watched That TV Show, "Animal Police" And There Was The Most Precious Baby-Faced Dog Named Ginger.

Ginger's Owner,Had Abandoned Her.It was Pretty Ovbious 1 Because She Had Been Changed Up,And Covered In Feeces.(HOW GROSS AND IRRESPONSIBLE IS THAT!?)She Also Was Skinny And You Could Just About See The Bones In Her Body.

Now Where Im Trying To Come From,Is I Think We Should(If This Were Possible)Gather All The People Up Who Have Abandoned,And Did Crewl Thing's To Animals,And Treat Them,How They Treated These Poor Innocent Animals.

It depends what you mean by cruel.

Most of the people I know with cats and dogs, for example, have their animals sterilised. Obviously the animals aren't consulted about this, and it's a safe bet the creatures don't ask their owners to make the arrangements to have it done to them. And if you ask the pet owners, you just get blank looks and explanations about how it's the responsible thing to do.

So clearly cruel is only cruel when it's not really convenient to be humane.

And what about keeping fish in bowls which are nowhere near suitable for the animals? Or keeping birds in cages? Or sitting on the backs of horses?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not remotely fond of animal cruelty. But before we go on a crusade about what other people do, I think it would be good to examine our own attitudes and policies toward the use and abuse, and overall treatment of other forms of life. Starting with how we can justify keeping animals in the first place (itself inherently cruel) and defending in cruelty in the name of social responsibility, then condemning cruelty in the name of humanitarianism.

There are far too many double standards embedded in it all

There are laws on the books regarding cruelty to animals - unfortunately, in most places, the manpower required to enforce those laws is simply not in place. Personally, I believe that the resources needed to enforce current laws about cruelty to animals should be provided where ever it is at all possible. Not only because it's wrong to hurt the helpless, but because cruelty to animals is a key indicator of severe behavioral problems. How many homicides could have been prevented if people who did terrible things to animals were prosecuted?

I like your idea, but since it IS against the law, I agree with a couple of people. Can't be allowed to have pets, and a prison sentence .

depends on why. many budding serial killers start out on animals. lock them up and throw away the key.
some are just uneducated, teach them proper care and monitor them for a while.
while some others are just jerks, sentence them to cleaning out horse stalls and dog kennels (while the animals are away of course) fine them, and prohibit them from owning any animal ever again.

Mandatory prison sentence (length to fit seriousness of the crime) and automatic ban for life on keeping any kind of animal.

well if it was just abuse they should never be allowed to own animals and they should be given the same treatment they gave the animals.if they killed the animal, they should be put in confinement, shot in the stomach ,and left to frickin die.i mean, fair is fair.

They should have the same thing done to them that they do to the animals.
