You might want to scrap the 3 square meals a day in favour of 5 small snack meals instead. The less food you eat in one sitting, the less acid your stomach will produce.
Limit or, even better eliminate those foods that can trigger heartburn. Some of the offenders are citrus fruits, garlic, chocolate, milk, carbonated beverages, tea, coffee, and alcohol. Also steer clear of anything that's fatty, greasy, or spicy. Foods made with tomatoes can also cause problems.
Avoid laying down right after eating and try not to eat anything shortly before going to bed.
Since you mention that you've been suffering for a month, perhaps you should start to write down everything that you eat and drink as well as when you experience symptoms. Review and eliminate those from your diet that cause heartburn for you.
Carrots, herbs, and vegetables such as angelica, celery, fennel, and parsley have long been used as " folk-remedies " for ypset stomach and heartburn. Try making a " cocktail " for yourself such as: combine 1 or 2 carrots, several angelica stalks, a few celery stalks, a fennel bulb, and a handful of parsley. Put all in a blender along with some water ( your desire). Drink a cup of this before every meal.( if you don't have all those essentials listed, go with what you have, whatever suits your tastebuds.
Another remedy is drinking teas made with Chamomile, gingerroot. For chamomile tea: ( you can buy dried chamomile flowers in any health food store) add 2-3 tsps. of dried chamomile flowers to 1 cup boiled water. Steep for about 10 minutes, strain before drinking. ( if you prefer, you can use the ready made chamomile tea bags as well.)
To make ginger tea: 1 tsp. of freshly grated gingerroot to 1 cup of boiled water. Steep, 10 minutes, strain and drink.
If your bothered with heartburn at night, try raising the head of your bed. Put some blocks of wood or bricks under the legs of your headboard to raise it off the floor a few inches. This will create enough tilt for to keep your stomach acid in your stomach where it belongs. Using extra pillows or foam wedge is not as effective as what I've mentioned.
Also it's reported that chewing gum right after eating helps eliminate heartburn. Chewing gum produces extra saliva which helps wash acid back into your stomach.
And if your carrying extra weight around it doesn't help either. So get active in that department. Smoking is hard on heartburn too as well as wearing clothes that fit too snugly around your waist.
So hope these insights help you with your heartburn as I know too well how it is, I've been there. God bless.

It might not be just your ordinary heartburn. My husband started having heartburn regularly, every night. Then he started getting sick, and violently throwing up for hours. After about 6-7 hours of doing this, it would go away and he would be OK. But the heart burn would never really be gone. We finally went to a doctor and he had arsenic poisoning. We had been tearing out an old wooden deck and was working with treated lumber. It seems the lumber was treated with arsenic and it affected him. I started reading up on it and there have been a few cases of people dying from this. It caused permanent damage to his stomach and he is on a medication to reduce the acid in his body that contributes to heartburn. Please go see a doctor, and Good Luck.

My suggestion is take tagamet 400 every night for the next 30 days. Try to stay away from spicy foods for the next couple of days till the medicine has time to really work. If tagamet doesn't work switch to zantac ( BID twice a day), and if zantac isn't strong enough go to Prilosec OTC.

Popcorn is a good acid reducer. Also try to eat small meals every 2-3 hours. Try to avoid eating fruit by itself. Fruit is loaded with acid. If you want to eat fruit try eating it in cereal and milk. If you keep doing this your heartburn will eventually subside.

this is probably not just heart burn. buy and drink aloe vera juice or better yet gel. this can be purchased at health food stores. drink one small bottle a day for three months. take acidophilus as directed. and apple sauce and apple juice. your stomach has become unbalanced as to it's alkaline and acid. these supplements and foods will correct this over a ninety day healing period. anything else is just a magic pill and they don't really exist.

it may be your diet. when i was eating really bad, greasy, and unhealthy foods in general i had terrible heart burn and indigestion. my doctor gave me a prescription for a heart burn medication but i never used it-i dont want to be on meds if i dont have to. i changed my eating habits to much healthier and it has made a huge difference. for the occasional heartburn, i use rolaids or tums, i like the rolaids softchews. try chnaging your diet first, could just be certain foods.if that fails, see your doctor. i
