why do parents teach children to walk and talk? when they get older they just tell to sit down and shut up?

not all parents tell their children to sit down and shut up. They teach them to walk and talk so that they can contribute to society later on in life, but most folks dont believe that before 18, a child can DO much.
If you are feeling like your parents don't care about you (as in, if they said this) they probably just don't know how to relate to you. My dad was very threatened when he realized that I had a mind of my own...and it was VERY different from his! He still gets upset that we have such different opinions, but thats life!

A walking and talking child signify a healthy and growing child. a walking child show heathy physicla growth and a talking one healthy mental growth. this also helps in integrating the child into the society and helps them to be independent. when they (the children) to an extent master these skills they tend to over do it. so calls for the need to teach them constrain, by tell them to shut up and sit down. but they are more better ways in which this can be communicated to the child.
