dont listen to the other rubbish suggestions here they dont know what they are talking about. you've entered into a s/w safe mode which is not a problem but to get out you need to do a system reset. press the menu button and the middle button together and hold them down for more than 5 seconds - the screen will go blank, let go of the buttons then the apple sign will light up in the middle of the screen - its doing a system reset. then simply press play if the menu screen is not there and all will be back to normal - some of you settings (EQ) may have been set back to factory but all your playlists etc will still be the same.

Disk mode is the mode it uses to connect to your PC/Mac. When you connect it to a computer it automaticly enters disk mode, but you can manualy put it in disk mode by pressing the play/pause and the center button at the same time.

It is a while since i have used an Ipod, and when i did i only manualy put it in disk mode once so I cant remember how to exit disk mode, but try pressing the same buttons again. If that fails try locking then unlocking it. One way that is almost cirtain to work is connecting it to your computer and then dissconecting it again.

If all these fail it will run out of power, and when it does so it will return to normal functioning after recharging.

You can't take the battery out of an ipod that easily!
Anyway yeh don't worry this hasn't damaged your ipod. Try pressing the same buttons again, or holding play to turn it off.

Try resetting it. - Connect ipod to adapter, toggle the hold switch on and off (set it to hold, then off again), Press and hold the select menu buttons for at least 6 seconds, until the apple logo appears.
Hope this helps!!

hit the reset button, press play, press stop, press all the buttons at the same time, press them one after another as fast as you can, throw the iPod against a brick wall and spend your money on something worth while
