I think they look really great with a pair of high heels if a girl is too short, or flats if the girl is supper skinny. Albeit, I wouldn't reccomend them at all for a person packing on a few too many pounds; I'd say flared jeans are much more flattering in that case.

the tapered jeans were once called the mom jeans coz only moms wore them. and they give such a bad shape to ur body like a pear shape. i hate the skinny jeans they look so unflattering and what is worst than the skinny jeans r leggings. i mean no one looks good in them not even the celebrities. i don't know whats up with the designers that they can't come up with something new.

I AM SO WITH YOU!!!!
This style is typically for the Nicole Richie waif chic. If you've got average hips or rear, they will look so incredibly stupid, as all it will do is accentuate the negative. Same goes for these ridiculous leggings!! 80's chic?!?! I DON'T think so!!!
On the flip side, my Mom laughed when she saw the boho hippie designs coming back a few years ago. How funny, and how old does it make me feel that the next generation is now trying to emulate US! LOL!!!

Great question !!! they are the worst type of jean for anyone who has a shape at all. A girl with an hourglasss figure ends up looking rediculous. Good thing for thrift stores !!!!!

Fashion is cyclical. Those low rise, hip hugger, bell bottoms that have been popular over the past few years were straight from the 70's. Fret not, in a decade or so people will be back to wearing their pants 3 sizes too big (OTOH, perhaps we should fret about that...).

I think the straight-leg cut is pretty cute and sophisticated. I was rather thankful; the bell-bottomed look was a bit too bohemian for me. Other posters are right; doesn't matter what the style is-- fashion designers just need to go back enough decades that a trend seems new enough or different enough to be the 'latest.'

Don't you know? Because it's different from what was in style just before. How many variations in jeans can there be? Everything comes back in style. Grossed out by the loud colors, wide ties, wide lapels, and long hair from the 70's? They'll be back. Study the trends and you'll see the cycles.

I guess some designer found a pair in the back of the closet and wanted to wear them again without looking dated.
