Windows 2000 you can go to a DOS prompt and do:or enter
ipconfig >press enter ull get ur ip adress

On the Macintosh to get your IP address try the following:
Apple Menu --> Control Panels --> TCP/IP Control Panel

On Mac OS X:
1. Open system preferences
2. Under internet and network, click 'network'
It will show you your IP address.. If you receive a dynamic IP address from your internet provider, it will likely be different on your next session. So if you need your IP address for later use, please check when you log on for that session
and ip address can be change only if u consult ur broadband service provider .,hope answer for ur question

As others have said: Start > Run > type Cmd > type in ipconfig or ipconfig/all

NOTE:
If you are using high speed cable or DSL your IP name is permanently assigned to the ISP's modem.

If you use dial-up the IP address changes each time you log on to the internet.

On a windows system you simply need to open the command prompt, usually in the Accessories folder. When the command prompt opens type IPCONFIG and your networking information will come up.

If you are running a broadband connection you will simply get the IP assigned to your system by a router or modem, with that you will need to access the router. This is usually done by typing 192.168.1.1 into your browser and the router configuration will come up, look for statistics and your true IP will be listed there.

Go to Start-->Run and type cmd, then type ipconfig and press enter. You will see your IP address there. Also, if you want your external IP, go to http://www.whatismyip.com
It can be changed:
If you have a static IP, just go into your network connection's properties then TCP/IP and you can change it there.
If you have a dynamic IP, you will have to change the setting on your DHCP server or Router.

Go here and it will tell you your Ip address: http://www.whatismyipaddress.com/

You can't change it because it's automatically assigned by your Internet Service provider.
Though some IP addresses are dynamic, meaning they change everytime you log in to the internet. If that's the case you could change it by logging off and back in to your ISP.

Internal or External?

External:
http://www.whatismyip.com
To change, resetting your internet connection will sometimes do it.

Internal:
Click Start, RUN, type Command, click OK.
Type ipconfig in the black command prompt box and hit enter.
To change try typing in that command box:
ipconifig /renew
