what is there to do? I will not have transportation, just a cab. any recommendations anyone?

There are some historical sites, but nothing major. Not really any shopping either. Some decent restaurants, "The Fours", Marina Bay, but not five star. If you are anywhere near the Red Line you can take it into Boston, only takes 30 minutes. http://www.quincy.com/adams/index.php

Take the MBTA Red Line subway from Quincy into Boston. Plenty to do there. Just make sure you don't miss the last train back, the last one back to Quincy leaves Boston about before 1:00 A.M.

Not too much to do right in Quincy. You'll need to find a way to downtown Boston for sight seeing.
