My son is 12 and he was at a friends. I had no control of what he was watching.

You could rent any scary movie and then watch the extras with him - like the "making of" featruettes. Mosts DVDs nowadays have really good ones.

That's the whole point of watching 'scary movies'. People WANT to be scared.

You didn't state how old your son is. Perhaps he's a bit too young for that sort of thing.

if you own or rent any scary DVD they have a section in bonus material w/ the making of
Dawn of the Dead a zombie movie totally great movie and scared the crap out of me then i watched how they made it and its really interestion to watch how they cast the people and it made it a little easier.

I don't know of a site, but when I was young, my mom just sat me down and explained that it is all fake, none of it is real. She told me about make-up, special effects, costumes, etc. I was never afraid of any "scary" movies after that.

when i was like 8 my uncle left friday the 13th on i watched it i couldnt go to the bathroom by myself for like years i was always terrified of jason then my dad bought the movie made me watch it again told me at the end it was all fake he took me out in the back gave me a hammer told me if i didnt believe him to take the hammer and smash the tape and that would get rid of jason so i did that i was never affriad again maybe you could try something like that it helped me.

Please do not ruin it for him. This is up there with finding out Santa is not real. I no longer enjoy haunted houses because I know all about them.

no...but you might take him to a movie set...universal studios...etc...personally i wouldn't have scary movies available to my child...if he is too young to understand...i feel he is too young to watch...p.s. .. i don't watch them anyway...
