American opinions on human rights issues reveal that Americans have a poor understanding of human rights philosophy (evident in substantial support for tortures and killings). How can Americans gain an understanding of human rights? How can adults be enlightened on human rights issues after they are no longer in the school system?

They have no reason to do so for the moment. They will really understand human rights when their country follows the universal law "what ever goes up, eventually falls down". The nice thing is that then they will need no school system to teach them those rights, they will learn them the hard way, we all do!

Well now, we have some quandaries.
Abortion. Inhuman or human? It's certainly IN HUMAN to the fetus but it's INHUMAN to a 14 year old girl to make her gestate full term.
Death penalty. Inhuman or human? Someone kills many people. A serial rapist who then cuts the throat of his victims and has raped 11 year old girls and has 15 or 20 rape-murders to his name and DNA evidence exists and he admists to many of the crime. Do we keep him alive in a cell with 3 meals a day, cable TV, a weight room, Natuals, Music Room, Free Weights for 10, 20, 30, 40 years? Do we release him ON YOUR DOORSTEP (Gee, is that INHUMAN to release a prisoner like this on the sidewalk in front of where YOU live!) or do we kill them.
How do we kill them?
Do you know once upon a time teeth were pulled without anesthia. Surgery was done without anesthia.
Is that tourcher is that inhuman!
There is a procedure some Islamic tribes use that cuts the clitoris of a 4 or 5 year old girl. Is that inhuman or is that human?
Ever see the movie Dirty Harry. Missing 13 year old girl. Serial killer -- just like in Silence of the lambs. Dirty Harry finds the guy and starts shooting his arms and legs and stepping on him until he discloses the location of where the girl is.
How, do we bring him into the state, give a happy meal, morning breakfast, an easy chair to sit in and then ask him politely where he hid the girl, remding him he doesn't have to answer and can have all the lawyers he wants in the room with him/
That child is YOURS!
Now what is inhuam and what isn't.
It's INHUMAN to YOU and the GIRL CHILD to give him a pillow, light his ciagrett, give him coffee, a donut whle the girl ROTS in a hole.
It's inhuman to HIM to pull out his fingernails in an effort to get him to tell you where the girl is!
Quandary, ain't it.
Hypothetical.
We CATCH a man about to notify the newspapers as to who is responsible for 9-11, but it is still hours away.
Do we Buy Mustafa some Falafel, give him a little Halva, give him a prayer rug and his Koran and ask him polite questions or do we start pulling his teeth out without novacaine untill he tells us the Flight Numbers and Targets of 9-11.
To be Human lets 4,000 peole intentionally die in 9-11
To be inhuman tourchers one man to extract information that STOPS 9-11 and thus 4,000 people get to live another day.
You decide! You go play God!
There are no mass graves in America like there are in Africa, Iraq, India, Pakistan.
That is my answer to you. You DARE to question American Ethics when there are people out there threating to kill the Pope over some words he said!
Those are HJMANE people.
LEt us by you a one way ticket to IRan, Iraq, Syria and you just go live with these people as we will be revoking your US citizenship so you can't come back.
