For a lot of them it is a Christian thing... the wife submitting to the husband. You know like in the old marriage vows (WRITTEN BY MEN) where it says, "... to honor and obey...".

It's complete bologna.

I always get a kick out of ppl who try to say... "but that's in the bible..." I have fun with that one when I pull my bible off the shelf and start reading scriptures of redistributing wealth every 7 years, super-human beings, or where it talks about selling your daughters into slavery being acceptable.

Lets take a rather lighthearted look at male Democrats...

- Seemingly 50% are gay.
- 10% just want to live together.
- 10% just want open marrages.
- 5% are turned on only by women under desks.
- 15% are either too ugly or too strange to find a mate at all.
- Only 10% could be described as relatively normal.

Democrat women put up with this and you think Republican women are subservient?

Update: Oh, come on, tarro. Can't you take a joke? I said it was a "lighthearted look" at male Democrats. Nobody is going to take my comments any more seriously then Holice's original question about Republican women (which are obviously not subservient).

However, if you must have a serious answer, I don't think either Democrat or Republican women are any more or less subservient than the other (and this includes the conservative Ann Coulter).

I sure as hell would not call Ms. Rice subservient. Nor Nancy Reagan, Laura Bush or even Mammi Eisenhower. Just because the Demorat women keep running off at the mouth, when they have NO idea what they are talking about, doesn't make Republican women subservient. Jane Fonda being a PRIME example. Let's still send her back to Hanoi.

Who says Republican women are subservient?

I live in the South where Republicans are abundant and I can tell you one thing for sure, you do not want to cross a true Southern lady. Most have been trained from birth in the art of telling someone to go to hell in such a way that they will look forward to the trip and, for the most part, are quite skilled in the art of subtle revenge. Additionally, I have known many conservative Southern women who, in addition to being quite gracious, rule their roost with an iron fist.

Dwight S. is very mean, and below the truth.

I don't think that Ann Coultar is very subservient. She seems like the terminator.

They are not necessarily subservient - however, many well -known republican women are. I don't necessarily believe it has to do wtih Republican/democrat - as much as how they were raised in their families.

Next time think before you talk.
