I have checked everything to make sure it is where it should be I think i may have changed some settings when i was trying to set it all up. anyone got any ideas?

yes tks 4 that, but the set up did give me 2 options use usb or ethernet i choose the ethernet?

nope, it is a new cable that came with the wireless router and worked with a friends w/router. Its a, dare i say it, Belkin make, which seems to have a bad report..

If you're getting this message and your ethernet is plugged in-- it could be that the ethernet cable needs to be replaces or your modem. Call tech support.

You can't connect a wireless Internet by the Ethernet. You have to use USB drive only ...

You can't connect a wireless Internet by the Ethernet. You have to use USB drive. You only connect wire Internet or broadband through broadband

Make sure you connecting to one the ports labeled as LAN not the WAN port. Other possibilities are a bad ethernet cable, incorrect drivers for the ethernet NIC, or a bad ethernet NIC.

I use the Belkin Pre N F5D8230-4 and my wife has the Pre N network card.
My computer is the main one and my wife connects and downlaods as fast as mine, she also plays battlefield 2 online and has no problemsat all.
The Pre N routers are 1000% better than the old ones and the signal strenth my wife gets is 100%.
She gets a signal at 108MBS and Transmits at 108 MBS so they are definatly not crap!

Or perhaps your wireless network connection is still running when you plug into the network with a CAT5 cable. The NIC would detect that you already have a connection running on that network and shut down.

When this happened to me it was indeed a bad Ethernet cable. you should try that first.
