It was very obvious that it was touched by an Oregon player before the 10 yard marker.
Anyone that said it was too close to call or tough to see is biased or just not smart and pretty ridiculous. Even University of Oregon announcer Dan Fouts, who played at Oregon said that this call was a joke. The announcers ripped them apart.
The tip call was bad too and it was obvious right away.
LSU got screwed on the non call against Auburn that was obviously interference.
The reason why people care is that this could cost each school millions of dollars in lost revenue in the bowl series. That's a ton of money lost due to an old white guy who wont' admit a mistake.
For some reason the college refs. are very insecure and it takes an act of God to reverse a call. Why have replay?
So to answer your question, people care because you get screwed out of a bowl, and may lose millions of dollars for being in a lesser bowl or even lose recruits because your ranked lower than you should have.

they did get screwed, not so much on the onside kick, because without replay, which couldn't have been used to make that call anyway, it was impossible to tell if it was touched before 10 yards or not. they did get screwed on the pass interference though. ya know what though, when it came down to it, OU had the chance to win, and couldn't execute. let a FG get blocked. one thing is for sure, OU has really shown that they are one dimensional. stop Peterson, like Oregon did in the first half, and OU is very beatable. good thing Middle Tennessee is next on the schedule. an easy game is needed to build up OU's confidence going into the Red River Shootout. they'll need it. UT had a minor set back against OSU, but looks like their defense is back on track. Will be a good game this year. HOOK 'EM

The instant replay did not show a clear angle that an Oregon player touhed the ball before it went 10 yds. The angle that was shown looked like the Oregon player did touch the ball first which should have gone back to Oklahhoma.
Remember: The Officials can't over turn a call on the field unless they have un-disputed results that clearly supports their decision. The angle that was shown did not support where the ball was when it was touch, only the player. The Official needed a sideline angle to over turn the field ruling.
The Bottom line is this: Oklahoma did get the ball back and ran it down to the 25 yd. line and had a cheap shot field goal Block that would have won the game for them.
Referree's are part of the game!

It doesn't matter whether you're an OU fan or not, anytime the game's outcome is decided by a ref's call (or no call) it hurts the game.
If you're a fan of the game of football, you should care as you're fav team could be the next victim.
sidebarâ Refs are human and although modern technology has infiltrated sports to serve as an aid, these occurrences are still bound to happen.

Absolutly they did(apparently you didnt see it or didnt care) Hopefully, everybody who cares about the integrity (or lack of this this case) the officiating in college football would care about this and some other ones I heard about this past weekend....................... Hot off the press!!!.The refs for the game just got their butts suspended ( but for only 1 game ) by the PAC-10 leadership. At least it's a minor victory-wont help us in the polls though. I wonder if NCAA officials have been suspended before-Anyone know????

OU got hosed. Those replay officials must be blind or retarded. The onside and penalty were both obvious. I felt bad for OU.

Yes, they got screwed. And, yes, people who care about the game should care, just as LSU got hosed on the interference call that was waived off.

I'm in Portland, and a lot of Oregonians are felling guilty about the win, but hey, just like last year's Super Bowl-Once it's in the books, it's in the books. ;-)
