If you cannot think about why you should, flip it around and start thinking about what might happen if you didn't obey the laws. Think of a few key laws and what would happen if you didn't obey them. That should help you pinpoint some ideas regarding why you should.

If the premise is "You should obey the laws of your country," you need to provide examples of laws and demonstrate why they are important laws to follow. Did you write this premise, or did your teacher give it to you?

This is much bigger than "you will go to jail if you don't" -- the idea of a law is that it does some good for the society. The question is - if we didn't have X law or Y law, what would happen?

Your countries laws were found on basic truths. Like freedom and pursuit of happiness. Most crimes infringe on those basic truths. Like Murder, and theft. If you feel a law is in appropriate and the law makers have made a mistake for creating it. Dont just break the law do something to change it. Create a petition. why a peptition it just might be you that thinks the law is wrong. If alot of people have the same point of view then take this to your federal representative to change the law. The only people who suffers when laws are broken are the victims and the criminals. Go thru the right channels and achieve some good.

1. For practical purposes. If you go around disobeying laws, you have to deal with the pain of fines, restrictions, and punishments.

2. For philosophical reasons. You might believe the laws are just and that society is better off if all members obey them.

3. As a compromise. You might feel the laws are unjust, but you might choose to work within the system and have the unjust laws changed, rather than disobyeing them immediately.

Laws are made for the citizens of a country to keep social order. And therefore to keep the society intact, nobody is above law. The country is made of a number of units. The smallest unit is an individual citizen and his family. Families make socieities which in turn together makes a country. Every unit has an obligation . the families by following a set of laws make a good society and the society floows the laws to make a good country for the benefit of all its citizens.

So that you would be considered to be a Law abiding citizens.
When we live in a society ,we have to follow rules and regulations put forth by our government.
We all have the option to move to a more tolerable homeland if we so choose .Except the North Koreans.
A government usually enacts laws to preserve religious beliefs or peace.
In a free society the people can change or amend laws to fit the enviorment of the changing world .
I`m sure when our forefathers enacted laws they never even dreamed of Gay marriage ,Abortion,Suicide or the removal of prayer in schools .
That is what democracy is .The power of change through the wishes of the majority.

Because you have an obligation to be a law abiding citizen. Laws are put forth (in civilized countries) to help people to live together better and to protect us. If we had no laws, you could rob the store, shoot your neighbor, etc. If someone did the same to you, you would have no defense.

The laws were written to help keep honest people honest. The dishonest people will ignore those laws to get what they want & usually end up in jail. You don't want to fall into that catigory, do you?
