They happen all the time, but you're right - we're due for another "big one."
This is a fun site: http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/index.php
(I like to pull it up and let the kids play with it when my relatives from out of state come to stay... Time to go!)

I was watching on the National Geographic that riverside is going to have a big one. 7 and above and will go into the water and hit something and return. They said that it will end up in downtown LA. They said that that land under downtown is not stable and all of it will be destroyed.

They happen all the time. It's no big deal. We don't even get subsidies from the Federal government when we have catastrophes. We don't want republican scraps anyhow.
Personally, I think California should just be our own country.
