Difference means individuality. there are so many ways in which we differ but even more ways that we are the same. I love the fact that everyone i speak to has a different oppinion, how else am i to learn if everyone had the same thoughts.
If we are to be free we need knowledge, some people strive to find the answers so they can pass it on to others. Some people nurture others to learn for themselves. Love is the only common thing everyone has, and i'm thankful for that.

Diversity is what human existence is all about. Difference is so much more important than sameness in that had we had sameness we would never have evolved as a society. Unfortunately, historically, this diversity has brought many tragedies on which we can look back on with regret.
Can you imagine having the same day tomorrow as you had today, meeting the same people, celebrating your sameness? Having your own Groundhog Day?
Difference is what makes us human beings. None can have all knowledge (we just don't have the capacity as individuals) so we have to rely on others. Between us we have all that is known to man. But for you or I to know we have to interact with those we don't know. In doing so we find a treasure trove of diversity which, hopefully, makes us wiser and more complete.
On your 2nd question, I don't agree with labelling, every individual I come across is just that, an individual. Yes, they may be different from me but they are also different from everyone else.

You are unique, just like everybody else. Why should I share what my culture, race or religion has attained with someone who doesn't share my values or just wants to dilute it, take it over or drag it down to their level? I SHOULDN'T Diversity sucks. Look at everything black people touch from city government down to their own neighborhood, it always goes to $hit. They can't have anything nice without messing it up, so when we want to exclude them from schools, neighborhoods, government etc. They claim racism, its not racism at all, if they would hold themselves to the same standard of conduct, decency, work ethic, manners and civic pride as the rest of us I would have no problem accepting others...sadly most don't, those that do I am great neighbors and friends with. Its not elitist or exclusionary to want to live in or raise children in a low crime, high education, safe area it's common sense....fight diversity without assimilation

I agree with you. Diversity is a thing to be celebrated, not tiptoed around on eggshells. What if people and animals were all exactly the same??? What a robotic and humdrum world that would be! I have friends of all races from all kinds of places. We're all basically the same, and I love to share what we do or think differently, it makes us more well-rounded. Hate sucks.

each is OK in its proper place. I don't like to see world cultures watered down by intermixing. Eventually, none of them will be left. As for other "differences", we have them whether we want to or not. Most people don't even notice them - or, at least wouldn't if some of the "differents" didn't insist on things like "pride" marches etc.
by all means let's mix but don't lose what we started with.

The word "Difference" really doen't cut it. The word "unique" does. Find the one thing that makes a person that and you are onto something. All the other things, like race, age, sexuality, nationality are not really things people choose, they are what people ARE. The things people choose for themselves, the things that makes them unique? Now THAT'S cool.
