the war on terror started with Osama bin Laden, and his pro-Islamic terrorists, the al-Qaeda, responsible for attacking the US on 9-11, because they wanted the West to stay out of the Middle East, as well as 1993 bombing of the WTC, 1995 truck bombing of Saudi National Guard, 1998, Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania,,, why can't the US capture the worlds #1 terrorist, and stop the war on terror?
we know where bin Laden is, why does George W. Bush not hold Pakistan accountable for protecting him, after all Bush did promise, that no distention would be made between terrorists and those who harbor them?
Bush says five years later that the US has to be invited to search inside Pakistan for the most wanted terrorist mastermind in the world,,, is this true, or just another Bush lie?
Osama is not in Iraq, he never was, why has Bush invaded and toppled Saddam, causing ,,, 200,000 US troops to get bogged down there,, while Osama has continued to train new Taliban and al Qaeda terrorists?

Because most of the leaders think their religion is the One True Way, and that all other religions are either wrong or inferior.

And because most of the hatred and bigotry in the world is being promoted and spread in the name of religion, which causes the religions to grow larger and stronger. The religions are feeding on the hatred and bigotry, and ignoring many of their core teachings. But since the religion is growing larger and stronger, the leaders of those religions have no incentive to stop the growth process.

Maybe the world is reaching a point where it truly cannot be salvaged by reason or peace. Maybe it is time for God to just wipe everybody from the map by fire and start over with a clean slate.

Oh it's not just Bush. His predecesor had much better opportunities to capture or kill Usama. After the 1993 bombing what did Bill say he was going to do? After the Embassy bombings what did Bill say he was going to do? After the USS Cole bombing what did Bill say he was going to do? Were those just more Clinton lies?

Look as where Usama is hiding now? It's a pure tribal area. Neither Afghanistan nor Pakistan really control it. the brits around the turn of the 1900's tryed to control it with 20 times the troops and with more brutal tactics than we can employ today. Didn't work.

If we use your reasoning the US would have not declared war on Germany during WWII when we did because Germany didn't attack Pearl Harbor, Japan did. We would have left Germany alone if they hadn't declared war on us (as response to our declaring war on Japan).

Your troop strength in Iraq is wrong as well. there are at present about 130K in Iraq.

We have been the recipients of terror attacks long before we were in the middle east, so another excuse will need to be used. Specific religious leaders are the ones causing the war, so if you can offer any suggestions as to how we can get them to stop, short of me dying or converting to Islam, I can speak for most everyone and saying that we would sure like to hear your plan.
Please go back and do your research as to why we went into Iraq. It had nothing to do with 9/11 and it has never been stated as such.

Neddie. I cannot even agree with the premise of your question. It is the nature of mankind to have opinions based on different points of view. We can wish it otherwise but we can also rejoice in the richness that a global tapestry of different people, cultures and ideas presents.

In my opinion the War on Terror started many decades ago in part due to very questionable actions by the US government against other sovereign countries. Most people are unaware of policy undertaken by our government in our names. For example would you agree to allow our government to train death squads or forces to overthrow democratically elected leaders in other people's countries? I doubt many of us would but unfortunately that is exactly what our government has done in many different countries. As a result we do have enemies that we probably deserve.

If you try to understand global problems from other people's perspectives then you'll quickly see why there is conflict.

Perhaps we should all pay close attention to what our government is actually doing and has done in the past. Unfortunately that is hard to do because our government and media report the 'facts' in a way that makes us support official policy - which, as patriotic people, we are naturally inclined to do . Perhaps we would be better patriots by questioning what we are told, look more deeply for the truth and begin to hold our policy makers more accountable.

I think that there are many assumptions in your questions. We as regular citizens don't know all the details, (it could be argued that it is not necessary, nor prudent that we do). Leaders of all religions may want different things for the world. Peace may mean different things to different religions. Absence of war is not the only meaning of peace. Many of the religious leaders wouldn't choose terror as thier method of conversion or salvation and have no persuasion on those who do.
