Get a can of Ortho Spider Killer. Don't use it in the house, but spray it around the door and window frames and vents outside the house. Inside use sticky traps and make sure to vacuum up their webs frequently.
Before taking the advice of others and handling them, it would be wise to know what kind of spider they are. You don't want to get bitten by a brown recluse, it makes a huge open wound that takes several months to heal and leaves a nasty scar.

I wont tell you, because they are the most harmless and the most useful of creatures. I always help them out of my bath before running the water. It's like handling a snake, or a frog, once done the fear goes, so force yourself to handle them and you will overcome your fear. In one of my homes we had a nightly visitor that took exactly the same route across our lounge. She was a sort of friend we looked forward to seeing again. We called her Charlotte, assuming that she was a "she",because we understood that the females devoured the males after mating. What a thought, fellers!

I don't kill spiders myself (for fear that karma brings you back in the next life as one) but usually the best way would be to squash it under something substantial - as large book or size 10 boot for instance. You might want to think twice though - it's somethings life you're ending - does your conscience allow you to do that????

Vacuum! - removes them and their webs!

don't like sprays indoors - effects your air,
a little white vinegar in a spray bottle with lots of water - usually gets rid of them!
