...in the Classifieds, for a job that I am qualified for, and the person answering the phone told me he had just placed the ad for feelers, to see what kind of response he would get, but that he really had no openings at this time. To place an ad in the paper for a job you have no opening for, just to see who will reply, is WAY far beyond my comprehension. What do you think?

Okay...to clarify...
We did not discuss my qualifications at all, nor did we discuss his job needs. I asked about the job, as instructed in the ad, and he said he had placed the ad for feelers only, that he really had no openings. so, it was NOT a matter of "you're not who we're looking for", or the position has been filled.

I've had that happened to me. Went on a job interview only to find out they weren't hiring at the time after all... just putting out the "feelers" to see what type of response they'd get for their company. I wasn't happy at all and of course they never called me in once the opening was finally available! They put this in classifieds for months. To me? It's wrong.
I finally did some online research.. found my way to this site at www.mywayoutonline.com/ you'd need the access code to view the Proven Formula presentation which is 108306. It's awesome! I love it too!
Good luck in what ever you find!
PS....as with anything you look at...DO check them out w/ the BBB (better business bureau) to check for legitimacy, ratings, complaints, etc :)

There are a lot of companies that take applications for jobs that they don't need to fill at the moment. What they do is create a pool of applicants so that they can start the interviewing process right away when there is an opening.

Is this the same question I just answered? Well, you should tell this guy your qualifications, and blow him away. They may find a spot for you!!! Again, if you ever wish to relocate..... ;-)

That's very misleading. Not sure if it's illegal or not, but in my book it's the same as lying.
