I have to agree with you on that, it wont make us very popular on here but we'll manage.
I don't really know why they're like that, I guess it's because they feel they are the greatest nation and therefor don't feel the need to get smarter and that's why they'll never realize that they're screwing the world up...I've read so many posts from Americans that want to bomb Iraq, or anyone that follows the Koran...So if the world were up to those people, you and I and people like us would end up in concentration camps...but hey that sounds like something that already happened...
But I'd also like to say that I know that there are decent Americans out there, smart people that do want the best for the world...those I like.

I think part of it is because so many Americans get so much "air time" - everyone, from stupid to smart, is encouraged to voice their opinion. In other places, only the smart or rich are heard. I'm sure you have just as many idiots in your country.
Also, America is a huge country and the biggest world power, so much so that it is easy for us to forget (or simply ignore) that there are other countries out there, making us seem less worldly.

We are consumers and we like entertainment in many forms. That said, these characteristics put up a curtain in front of what is really happening. Look at the news media: they have to make the news flashy, sexy, or shocking in order for people to take notice. Tell people the polar ice cap is melting -- so what, but tell people Paris Hilton got a DUI and evryone is interested. Give me my cell phone. Internet, and cable TV and I am happy. I can make my own little world that will only overlap the real world a little bit.

If that be the case why is it when the western world has a disaster or need the best medical care that there is they come to America, for their needs. So where is the inferior thinking and ignorance then........

They are forced to take intellectual subjects in school when they are too young to feel that these courses have any relevance.
