V#____X__________Y_____

V1____-6.6_________0
V2_(sin45)*8.5___(cos45)*8.5

Vs_-6.6+.707*8.5__0+.707*8.5

Plot the tip of Vs, at x = -6.6 + .707*8.5 and y = .707*8.5 and draw in the vector from the origin to the tip. Are you expected to get magnitude and angle graphically or by trig? Anyway I'll leave that for you.

x components = 6.6 cos 180^o + 8.5 cos 45^o=-6.6+6.01= - 0.59
Y components = 6.6 sin 180^o + 8.5 sin 45^o=0+6.01= 6.01
Resultant= sqrt of (x^2+y^2)=sqrt{(- 0.59)^2 + (6.01)^2}=sqrt(36.4682)=6.04 units...............................i

tan A=(y/x)=(6.01/(-0.59)=-0.179684093
angle =A + tan^-1(-0.179684093)=-10.18644068=(180 -10.18644068)=169.8 degree
