Because at some point us women need a break from the kids that you men impregnated us with and decided to tuck and run from. Your responsibility as a father doesn't end with the sperm donation you oh-so-lovingly gave. If you chose to stick around, and be a husband and father, you now have a lifelong responsibility to help. Why should a mother be taken into consideration any less because perhaps she is a stay at home mom? Do you think she doesn't need a break from doing that at 'home thing' all day long? Or what about (in my case) a working mother - I guess she is supposed to work all week, come home, feed, bathe, put all kids to bed, and then on weekends, clean the house, care for kids...while dad gets to relax?
What exactly is wrong with sharing that responsibility? What is wrong with mom getting to sleep in 2 days or even 1 day out of a 7 day week of insanity?
What makes you any less responsible as a father?

As I suspected, you're getting a bit of grief from the womenfolk.
The chances are that you're working all week, probably paying for the mortgage etc, whilst your missus looks after the kids. So you return home, knackered and stressed out and are then expected to continue through the w/e. I've spent most of my adult working life listening to similar tales and am really glad we didn't have kids. Example: Pops works a 60+ hour week, never gets a w/e off because he's expected to drive around all Saturday shopping, or if its a Bank Holiday, spend all day stuck in traffic jams driving to the coast! And they wonder why women live longer, ha!
Of course, when you're not shopping or looking for parking spaces at crowded sea-side resorts, there's always the gardening or DIY, get the plastic out because wifey needs a new kitchen, carpetting, bathroom suite etc etc. Still, the upside is to pay for all this you'll get to work 80+hours a week and, fingers crossed, make retirement before croaking under the stress.
Mmm, wonder what responses I'll get now heh heh!

Well..if your woman is a stay home mom and does it 5 days a week i think it's nice of you to do that..don't you think?
Well it depends..do you and your wife both work? does she take care of the baby? stay home? does she cook and clean?
Also women do a lot more work around the house i think, more so than men do. We feel the urgency to do it and we don't put things off like most or some men do. Having a clean house bothers me as a woman and we strive all week to get everything done. so come weekends...we get a break and if you are a sensitive man..you will be ok with that.

BOO HOO!!! Give the girl a break. She probably thinks you are happy to do it for her. Maybe she thinks you love her and you want her to enjoy a little extra time in bed. I'm sure she has no idea that you feel like you're being taken advantage of. Give the girl a break.

That seems unusual... but maybe the women are tired because they spent the whole week tending to each of their children's needs.
If you're the "victim", be appreciative of what your wife has done for the family and let her have her little weekend breaks.
If your wife is a deadbeat mom (rare but possible), have a talk with her and manage your tasks by dividing them evenly and fairly amongst eachother.
Best wishes!

If you get up with the kids every weekend and you need a break talk to her about it, if you are tired and need the extra rest maybe she can take a weekend or two for you, better yet take turns. My old man gets up with the kids because I have insomnia and I am a supper cranky butt in the morning.

Wow! Your wife is lucky. I felt good on Saturday that I got to sleep in until 6:30 (because the baby, who usually wakes me up at 5:30 slept in.) Normally, I'm awake everyday at 5:30 - including weekends.

you sound a little sexist here.A relationship is equal..you made a desision to make these children, you should be happy to give your wife a break..she has spent the whole week doing housework, she gives birth,Perhaps you should both take sit in turns to have a lie in.Being a mother is pretty much 24-7.
Perhaps you should say how much you would love to help out more often..women like the emontional support.

Well if you think about it, women have already given the hardest job, childbirth, so the least a man could do is help out with the burden of a child.
