I just recently had my baby and I bought the bottles ventaire. Well a freind of mine brought over some bottles for me...Dr. Brown. And she said she used to use ventaire but if you don't put them together right they leak. So I have been using the Dr. Brown bottles so far...but my baby won't burp hardly afterwards.

So my questions is are the ventaire bottles just as good to use?

And with these bottles that prevent the air bubbles, does it make the baby burp less often?

I used Dr. Browns and both my children gave good, hearty burbs afterwards, but the bottles did help by reducing spit ups. If your child hardly burbs it may because (1) he/she does NOT have much gas to let out or (2) you may need to modify the way you are burbing the baby. If your child is uncomfortable after his/her bottle then it may be (2) and you should speak to your pediatrician to give you some new burbing options. There are at least 3 different ways to burb a baby and each baby burbs best with a different one. Some kids do great with being over the shoulder, my kids preferred to be sat up and then gently patted. I can't remember the other one, but the nurse at the hospital showed us the method.

As for cleaning Dr. Browns, I just put them into a standard little dishwasher basket (sold in the baby aisle at supermarkets) and the dishwasher thoroughly cleaned the bottles, nipples, tops, the plastic tubing, and the green stopper. Easy and no refills to keep spending money on.

I started with Avent, and switched to Dr. Brown's at 4 weeks and noticed way less gas. My baby (3 months now) is still pretty hard to burp, but I have found that he likes to sit up on my lap with a back pat now that he can hold his head up. Also, we found that laying him down for a diaper change helped move the air bubble, and he would burp right after we put him upright again. Also, I can absolutely say that washing the Dr. Brown bottles is a piece of cake. In fact, we use the Avent steamer to sterilize them after we wash them out. The tube doesn't add that much work at all. Bottom line--yes, less air gets in, but you still probably need to burp.

I have heard that about Dr. Brown bottles...they are meant so that baby doesn't suck as much air. Ventaire are fine to use...it is pretty much just personal preference.

And..lots of bottles leak if you don't put them together right....moms have to be smarter than the bottle :) lol You'll be fine either way. Have fun with the new one.

I thought the ventaire bottles were a pain in the neck. If you don't have a dishwasher, the bottoms of the bottles where the "vent" is will start to mold. It's really nasty.
I switched to playtex nursers with the "drop in" inserts. I'd never use anything else again. Very convenient when on the go.....
My daughter had colic so we had to be very careful with feeding and burping.....
playtex nursers were my savior!
Good Luck

That's what the bottle is supposed to do. It's supposed to prevent the baby from sucking too much air in. It's normal for your baby not to burp that much after his/her feedings with the Dr. Brown bottles.

I use the ventaire bottles and I have not had any problems with putting them together or leaking. They help my little girl with gas bubbles. It helps them not take in as many bubbles. I love them! No problems here.

I used playtex drop ins - still didn't help with gas. Burp your baby often during feedings. I hear Dr Brown's is GREAT for gassy babies...but I hear they are a pain in the butt to clean with that tube. Less work the better for me. I'll be using Avent.

i use Dr Brown bottles and they leak after you've used them for a while too , my baby burps ok . when i burp him i walk around holding him upright and pat his back firmly , he burps really well if his head is tilted back slightly , don't forget to support his head with your hand.
