I was married at the age of 18. That was 24 years ago. Although it lasted 24 years, I do not recommend it to anyone. My marriage recently broke up and now I am beginning to find myself. I gave all my life to my husband and that is all I ever knew. I sometimes wish that I would have enjoyed life as myself and not a Mrs.... before I married. I am positive that if I were to have waited to get married, I probably would have married someone else.
My advice.... Wait. Don't rush into anything. If it is meant to be, it will happen. Especially having a child at an early age. I had my daughter a year after I got married. There is no rush. Right now you are young and you believe this is what you want. But you need to give yourself time to figure out who you are. Please wait.

For some people, it works. I got married and 21 and divorced at 24. I can't really say there was anything wrong with the relationship, but I wasn't happy with the person I married. I knew in my heart before walking down the aisle that marrying him was wrong for me, but it was the best choice for me at the time. You can be happy, but there are things you learn as you get older (such as better communication skills) that can be very beneficial to a long-term relationship. What is the rush? Kids are a completely different arena. Think of the most important thing in the world to you, then think how it would be to have it as your lowest priority. Children take over everything in your life. It's important to have time to get to know each other. Even if you have been dating for years, people change the most in their 20s. The person you marry at 20 won't be the same as when they are 30. Hope that helps.

I did and my experience was not good at all. Married again now, to a different woman, I am so much happier in my life. When I was young (21), I could not understand what I truly wanted out of life yet. I know you do not want to hear that, because you likely are just like me and many others who believed at age 21 that we did know what we wanted, but I only ask you this. What is the hurry? You likely have 60 years ahead of you on this earth. Wait 2 or 3 years and enjoy just being together, unmarried. True love does not require hurrying to secure the deal.

I got married at 19 and i am glad i did it but i would hold of on kids though bc if you want to go to college it will be hard i have two kids and going to college and it is tough. Not impossible so if you guys truely love each other and you dated awile then go for it. I dated my bf b4 we got married for six years. So i knew what he was like way b4 we got married. His parents got married at 17 and 18 and if she did not pass away in a car accident they would of still of been together till these day. His parents got married in the 70s i think or around 80 somewhere between those years. They had a happy marriage.
so good luck.

I got married 3 wks after I turned 18 and was 8 months pregnant. After our the first few months and a newborn at home I kinda felt like it was something I had to do. At the time I wanted to but didn't have as much fun as I wanted. I didn't get to go to parties and hang out with my friends. So I basically revolted against my husband and di what the hell I wanted when I wanted too. It made our marriage hard. We split up for a yr and did our own thing. He had his g/f's and I had my b/f's and we shared custody of our kids. Even got so far as filing for divorce. But when we went to trial last November we both didn't want to get the divorce. I think I realized this man would do anything for me in the world. So we worked on our marriage and our family and everyhting is great now. I don't look down on it cuz I did it myself, just be sure thats what you want to do. Good Luck!

I think it depends on your maturity level. For instance I married at 20 and had my son at 22. I am 100% dedicated to my marriage and child as is my husband.
On another note, if you do get married, I would recommend that you be married for a while before having kids. It gives the 2 of you a chance to enjoy your married life before adding something else into the mix.

I was married at 18 and my then boyfriend was 21. Today, after 6 children, 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, we are still in love. Marriage is a hard job but if you really love each other and work every day at keeping love alive, it is well worth it.
By the way, we have been married 55 years.

At 23 I got married earlier this year to my husband who is 21 years old. We are very happy that we did it. We were in love and we just knew it was right. It's different for everyone though. If you have doubts then maybe you should take some more time to be sure that you're ready. If you're seriously thinking about it then go right ahead. Best of luck.
