they wouldn't need to make profit as they would get stuff for free, but then why would they make stuff? Why would anyone do anything? Isn't this a bit like communism!?
Communism sounds good in theory but i don't think it's ever worked.

All the best things in life ARE free (like the song says). Try going to the shops and buying a friend or a sunset.
But, you're right, corporations have turned commercialism into the new religion and we, the brainwashed masses, eat up the fact that we MUST own the new hot thingy otherwise we are uncool.
To avoid this use the barter system, like we used to before money. Profit is unnecessary, sell the goods you make and grow for the stuff you haven't got like milk and fish and labour. Unfortunately it would be very hard to have any kind of technological advancement in that kind of society. So if you want to watch TV and text your friends, think of the consequences.

whether money existed or not there would always be a trade off.
the person who makes pots would trade a pot for a kilo of meat etc. if there was only one pot maker in a community of 1000 people, then the value of his pots would be high... etc.
it is a basic human need to trade otherwise why would we do anything at all and would anything actually be produced? in someway we all have to contribute to society.
money was invented as a more standard universal type of trade so people where not limited by what they had to sell and who would buy it, in order to purchase.... this has worked well as economies have grown, as now we can work, without having a pot to show for it, and yet still be able to buy something.
all this said, however, and perhaps due to over population, societies now measure every thing by money instead of actual worth. it's now all about want instead of need.
is there a solution... well i'm sure, given current affairs, the solution will be forced upon us in a few years anyway.

I don't think I'd wish that everything were free. Mainly because if I made something I'd like to be paid for it as a reward for my hard work.
Granted there are things that i'd like to have for free... The playstation 3 for example. That thing is waay too expensive. But rather than wishing it were free, I'd like to be more realistic and just wish it cost less than $600. I'd be more than happy if it were $300...or less.
The big problem with everything being free is that you'd have to set limits, and that would be hard to enforce. You couldn't allow one person to take 50 barbie dolls for his daughters b-day when you only have 50 in stock...what about the other kids?

you live in a dream world. Money makes the world go around. otherwise you'd have to revert to a barter economy but money is the only thing that is objective and egalitarian enough. You can buy whatever you want.
why should you get something for free when you don't deserve it?
Should you just sit around and expect things to be handed to you? life is not that easy. Unless, you are Paris Hilton.. but then again.. someone in her family worked their *** off to make those big bucks that she could live off.

AGREED. you do not understand someone till you're of their existence. it truly is nuts to imagine that someone you in reality understand just about is even able to proposing their authentic self--in the experience that they even had to! and maximum folk carry parts of themselves back, even in an nameless, digital international. I really do!! you should spend time with someone interior the genuine international, with all the genuine international stresses before it is also available to commence to imagine you recognize them. This takes time, and it takes getting to carry close them authentically (i.e. no longer secret rendezvous' for sex.) no one ought to EVER believe too extremely below inauthentic circumstances--the nature of the issue must be considered. solid aspect, because I have really stated an strengthen interior the web affair form of questions, which, imo, is a daft idea. i do not consider them, yet i presumed between the only reward of an affair, changed into the sex?!?! merely my 2 cents.

Surely wishing everything was free is pretty much the same as wishing you had enough money to buy anything? It's a sort of tautology!

I paint and swop pictures for food, haircuts etc, I try to be as non-money orientated as possible - I'm painting a mural on a fruit shop for fruit & veg, its a positive thing to do - my freind who is also an artist got her car serviced in exchange for a painting! I'm sure you have some skills and talents you can swop.
