totally depends on the state you live in and the company you work for, im a social worker for UnitedHealthcare and the average salary in my company is $45,000 w great benefits, my friend who works for the city makes about $40,000, and i know someone else who works in a nursing home who makes $55,000. I know that nationwide the average salary is $40,000. It's a great profession, very rewarding.

it all depends on the state. here in the northeast, they make about $35-$45K per year. and its a state job, which provide good benefits and pension plans.
