i'll go with rock, but even then, you're not being very specific.....i could name a lot of good pop (pop could be anything really) songs but then the list would become too congested....

Rage Against the Machine - Bullet in the Head
The Jesus & Mary Chain - Just Like Honey*
Nirvana - Come as You Are*
Beck - Loser*
Pearl Jam - Jeremy
The Killers - Mr Brightside*
KoRn - Freak on a Leash
Green Day - When I Come Around
Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run*
Oasis - Shakermaker or Live Forever*
Weezer - Buddy Holly
Metallica - Wherever I May Roam
Alice in Chains - Rooster
Blur - Beetlebum
Smashing Pumpkins - Today
SlipKnot - Wait & Bleed
Radiohead - Street Spirit (Fade Out)
Placebo - Pure Morning
Nine Inch Nails - Terrible Lie*
R.E.M. - Nightswimming
Feeder - Buck Rogers
The Charlatans - The Only One I Know*
The Who - Behind Blue Eyes
Black Flag - Depression
Megadeth - Tornado of Souls
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Other Side (or maybe it's one word - Otherside)

* best songs on the list

i've tried to include guitar based rock. i love rock with synthesisers and keyboards but just haven't put much in. i've basically put on some indie, grunge, punk, pop-punk, classic rock, madchester and metal. enjoy
