Curling stones are made of granite, called Blue Hone, which comes from Ailsa Craig, Scotland. Because it is rare and very expensive many stones now are of less costly granite but have a special insert of this very special, extremely dense granite in the base.
A set of 16 stones costs about $12,000.

dont know what they are made from but all curling stones in the world are made in Mauchline,Ayrshire,Scotland
they are the only factory in the world which still make them
curling actually originated in scotland
