My favorite source of free advertising has been through two sources craigslist.com and merchantcircle.com. Craigslist is easy and well read! I use both of these, Craiglist in larger cities, merchantcircle for my own community.
Alternatively, check out the free and classified services on the Grandfather of all links site.. it has thousands of free and helpful articles on advertising, marketing and free sources!

Finally, trade link Ads with others in your network. They can link to your site when there are specials, you can link to theirs.
