My son went to a babysitter at 20 months. He did cry - separation anxiety is hard on them (& on us, too) but they do get through it.
If you don't have to work yet, then stay home with the baby. I would give everything I own if I could have stayed with mine - I missed so many precious moments & can NEVER get them back. Don't be so eager to "get your life back again" - once you have a child, that should be your main focus. Keep the baby happy, healthy, well-adjusted. If you don't have to work, then don't.

I have four children and they have all cried. It doesn't mean they are not ready or the daycare is bad. However do your research. Make sure you know what kind of place your sending your child too. They will get use to being there and sometimes you'll go months with no crying then out of the blue they do it one day. It's ok. I hope this helps you. If not try getting them to occupy the child while you sneat out. This works good too. GL
p.s It's easier if you have time away. Otherwise they day they start school and you have to leave them its worse. I have tried both ways and if your to afraid to leave them then do it on a part time basis. Hour here or there. You can also find daycares with cameras. That way you can access it across the web.. I may not be the right person to answer this question because I have very strong feelings on the issue of daycare. If you don't have to work why would you put your child in the hands of others? if the child is not happy with this arrangement why are you doing it?you can get a education on line at home. you've heard all the horrible things that can happen to a child when away from their parents,I would not take that chance if it wasn't necessary. If you have to work and there is no family available then do what you must, but I would never send my baby at that age to anyone not of my family. In fact I wouldn't and didn't let my babies go anywhere until they could talk.my mom was a little slap happy when I was growing up and I wouldn't let her watch my kids until they could talk.use to piss her off.

If you have met with the child care giver and feel comfortable about the environment you are leaving your child in, you child will be just fine. The emotional hurt is what is difficult and the separation anxiety for your child. However, if you talk to his caregiver I am sure he/she can reassure you that the tears stop very shortly after you drive away. It may continue for a few days after you first start taking him there and may start up again for no reason, but if you continue to be matter of fact about taking him to child care he will begin to accept it as the way things are. Be upbeat about when it's time to go and show how happy you are that he gets to go play at his "friends" house and be happy to see him when you pick him up later.

I started sending my daughter when she was 2 1/2 and my son was only 8 weeks. At first my daughter was terrified since she was never really away from me for too long and it was a new and strange place for her. The first week or two was difficult. She cried when I left and it tore me up. After a little while, she got use to the place and couldn't wait to go back. She just had to adjust like I did. Once we got over the first week or so, it was great. You're going to have that reaction until he adjusts. But he'll be ok. And you will be too.

Your baby is going through separation anxiety and it is perfectly normal. No, you do not remove your child from daycare and you do not post pone school. It can be hard for you and your baby BUT the reality is your in school and you NEED daycare.

I never sent any of my kids to daycare. Not even a babysitter. Educated, trained nannies have been known to hurt children. There is no way I would take that chance. You say you dont have to work so I say stay with your child. He/she is your priority, right? School can wait.

I WAS TO HORRIFIED TO SEND MY SON TO DAY CARE. I DIDNT SEND HIM TILL HE WAS 4 AND COULD TALK AND TELL ME IF ANYONE WAS HURTING HIM. BUT I HAVE HEARD STORIES. MOST CHILDREN CRY WHEN YOU DROP THEM OFF. IM SURE YOU WILL CRY TOO. BUT YOU HAVE TO DO IT. THEY WILL ADAPT AFTER A FEW DAYS. DON'T WORRY MOM, IT WILL BE OK.
